New kid on the block
Hey all,
I just picked up a 2006 CBR1000RR from a trade I felt I shouldn't turn down. I traded my 1995 Honda Del Sol that had a GSR swap for it. It seemed like a really good deal so I didn't want to pass it up.
A bit about me: I am a full time student studying electrical engineering and this will be my first bike. I know that it has a ton of power and I should have started with a smaller bike, but like I said, the opportunity came up. I have little experience driving and working on bike but am eager(and cautious!) to learn.
The bike needs work here and there and was obviously laid down, but overall I am very pleased with it! I don't have pictures yet but will be taking some soon.

Welcome to CBRF!
Have you taken the MSF Course? www.msf-usa-org. If not, highly recommend you doing so. The course teaches basic riding & safety techniques. The course completion certificate counts toward the DMV test(s) getting your license in many states...as well as getting a discount on your insurance.
Congrats on your new to you bike. Enjoy & be safe.

Thanks.
I am located around the Albuquerque, NM area and am working on getting my own gear. Currently I am borrowing a helmet and gloves from a friend. I'm not worried about getting totally suited up because I won't be driving it much due to the cold, as well as the problems I need to fix.
It need tires, a foot brake pedal (I might try and fabricate one or fix the broken one), fairings, brakes, possibly rotors, and of course to do all the maintenance stuff on it (plugs, oil, filters, etc). But it does run like a champ.
I'm waiting to buy my own gear in a few weeks when I have money. This end of the year has been rough money-wise due to me buying a car a few months ago.I'm not working as much during the school year.
I will post up some pics probably tomorrow and possibly start a build thread soon. I have two more finals to take then I'm free for a few days before I start working full time again over the break.
I have not taken that course, but I will definitely look into it. A co-worker of mine just got his first bike a few months ago as well so I was going to ask him about what he had to do.
