I cant tell you how pumped I am in finding this forum...I purchased a 1988 CBR1000F from a lady that lives nearby in my state (Minnesota), this was a bike that her husband had been working on for a while. The tabs indicated that the last time it was on the road would have been in 2015. The bike has about 6500k miles on it, all the plastic has to be redone, but it was all there! Anyway, as you can see from the pictures, I have been trying to figure out what the PO had done as there are wires hanging off the front of the bike, but he did have some notes written down.
I did a little research and found that the PO was a member of this forum and now I can see what all he was involved with, unfortunately the PO had passed away from ALS and his wife was trying to clean out some stuff. I picked up the bike and parts for $500, but it is not running yet, it was owned by member rlnelson5. I just cleaned the carbs but after reading some of the information out here, I am pretty sure I will need to take another look at the jets as they did not seem to have a hole going through them. I'm not sure how the PO went from the bike he had pictures shared on the forum (see below), to what I bought, but I want to bring it back to as original as possible, he did the ignition coil mod, and removed the fuel pump and was going to go with gravity fed fuel. The PO wife said he did end up laying the bike down, just before he was diagnosed with ALS, but I'm not sure how he went from his pictures...to what I bought, but I am glad I found this one.. See you on forum with many questions I am sure! I'm so glad a previous members bike has gone to someone who will cherish it! Great that you found us as well.
Plastics and screens for these bikes are like rocking horse ****, so take good care of them. Lucky for you that they're all present and correct,
no Chinese knock-off plastics for these.
The extra wires in picture 2 are probably for a volt meter and a power socket BTW.
