Hey everybody. I'm looking to get into a bike later this summer, wondering if a CBR600 is a good "starter" bike. I'm not looking for all out ***** to the wall speed, just something thats fun to ride.

many will have different opinions on this but i think a 600 is fine to start out with. as long as you're responsible and respect the bike you'll be fine. and i don't know what your definition of "***** to the wall speed" is... but today's 600cc machines will SCREAM!

welcome to the site!

The arguement rages on to this day.I think a RR is a great machine but if youve never ridden before i would suggest maybe learning how to ride on the road in traffic on something other than a replica of what they ride as professionals at 175mph in Daytona....LOL...but to each his own.I would suggest a class as we all do.

just thought I would bump this, I have a couple of questions...

how much riding experience did you guys have before you got onto a bike? Cuz right now I have absolutly none on a bike, ive been riding some bombardier 650 4-wheelers, so I understand the shifting thing, but I know that power is NOTHING compared to a bike. I'm gonna take a motorcycle safety class where they teach you how to ride bikes and stuff. I REALLY want a sport bike, and I keep telling myself I should be fine on a 600RR or F4i, but I would hate to go out and buy one and have a hard time riding it or it being too much for it.

wow lots of people have this concern. as i have seen pitsvtec say get the bike that is most comfortable for you while you sit on it. remember you control the bike it does not control you personally i went and got the sport bike (rr) i would have been disapointed later on but that is just me

Zero experience before my F4i. Take it easy and you'll be fine. The throttle goes both ways.

Get the bike you want. Take it slow, take a safety course, always ride with gear on. Being your first bike, it will feel like it's going to come out of your hands if you twist too hard/much.
