Talking New guy in Ga

Well after a few years I finally got another bike. My fiancee surprised me valentines day with a 94 cbr600f2. Of course its a project but not lacking much from being road worthy. I've already been stalking the specific forums for ideas. First up, get it commuter ready as I drive 53 miles one way to work. then the mods will begin. Heres a couple pics of my new baby, dont be too harsh lol, he was apparently laid down on her right side. But for the price I couldnt have done better.

more pics to come as my build/rebuild progresses

Welcome to the forum!

53 miles each way? You sound like me... You will be in a much better mood when you get home after doing it on a bike, that's for sure.

Good luck getting it all fixed up.

Diamonds in the rough I say. From the pictures, heres a couple things I noticed
- Was the engine repainted with the fairings on? The clutch cover is only half clean...
- Are you looking for a new front and side fairings? You COULD fighter it, but I wouldn't on a commuter. Esp for 53 miles.
- Why is the fuel cap taped up?

i believe it was painted with fairings on as there is overspray on the frame by the neck. Yes, I'm looking for new fairings, I appreciate the fighter look, but I'm still in love with a body. Haven't decided if I want F4i fairings or not yet. Either way they are a little out of budget at the moment. As for the fuel cap, the lock cylinder was stripped because po lost the key. So the tape was for the dealer to remember not to close the cap or fight to reopen it. On that note the ignition switch is gone also due to same loss of key. I'm currently looking for a new cap and ignition cylinder but am a little skeptical to order the set on ebay from china for 29.95. If anyone has experience with them, i.e. fit and finish, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Welcome to the CBR Forum gtcole,

Your bike looks quite solid and should look good with some TLC.
Keep us posted on your progress. Nice fiancée

Cheers, SB

welcome to cbrf! keep her naked! throw a new front end on there with some dirty bars - and that thing would be a monster of a commuter as well as comfy

Welcome to CBRF!

Wow I wish I was bought mine! You've got a keeper there, with a bit of TLC!

Best for help is to start a log, people love reading those and usually chime in if you get stuck.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a little unsure about the fighter, still debating. As for the thread, I started one and posted all the pics I have taken so far. Its in the f2 section. I am looking forward to the input I know I will receive and advice that I will need.
