Default New Guy

Hi everyone,
I've been creepin on this forum for a while because I've always like the idea of being a Honda guy. Saw some F2 conversions on here and pulled the trigger on a 94 for cheap (insurance and price were just right for this college kid). I would really like to become proficient at minor maintenance and electrics, so I'm happy to hear really in depth explanations from the gear heads around here.

I hate to be that guy who asks a question on his intro thread, but I really need to know something. I rode the bike the other day and it ran really well. However, we had a rain storm (20% chance turned out to be a T-storm warning) and there are bolts missing from the gas cap. Needless to say there is probably water in the gas. Iso-Heet got it to start but it only goes a few feet in first and dies. Should I let the Heet sit a little or should I do something more proactive?

Thanks for any replies,
Matt

welcome to the forum

I'd drain tank and carbs and start with all new gas, also when you take filler off the tank you should see a drain there, make sure it is clean and cleared out.

and buy bolts

Is there a place to buy a few bolts at a time? I found sets on probolt-usa.com, but I only need 2 and I don't really want to spend $20 for all 7. If I have to I will, but would really rather not. Is there a thread on how to drain the tank? I did a quick search, but no joy... Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm really interested in learning.

Thanks for the welcome!

Good to have you w/ us HuskerRed!

Congrats on getting your F2 at a good price.

You should be able to get the help you need in the F2 section.

Thank you very much! I promise I'll learn how to navigate before asking to many questions. I just really want to get back on the road this weekend while the weather is nice!

Okay, I read this thread
https://cbrforum.com/forum/f2-tech-9...g-101-a-96888/
to see what everything looked like before I got into it. What I need to know is do I need to go through the whole dis-assembly in order to get at the drain screws to drain the carbs, or can I do it some other way. Also, is it easiest to drain the tank by taking it off and opening the valve (into a container of course)?

Another question I have concerns the forum's rules. I noticed that some people where upset about not being able to sell things because they weren't senior members (100 post). However, I didn't see the tiers of membership and their privileges explicitly spelled out. Is there a thread I missed and is my new member status what is keeping me from being able to PM other members?
