Not new to bikes, current ride is a 95 ST1100, & i am entertaining the idea of a 94 or so CBR900. I like the double round headlights and boxy rear end. I would like to add sport bike to the barn and keep the ST company.
For now just reading up on the CBR's and thanks for admission to your site.

Welcome, indeed! Your story is pretty cool, cause I'm thinking of moving the other
direction. Add a ST to the stable for 2-up with mama and the cbr for the rest of the
time. Got any real-world comments on the ST's? They look like the cat's meow, if
you're not interested in the "RV"-touring bikes.

Glad you joined up, Ern

Thanks all for the welcome

So what I like about the ST1100 is this.
Like you said it's not an rv.
Fairly sporty for a touring bike.
I took my wife on one I rented before I bought, and she loved it. Mostly due to the large seat and back rest.
So when she enjoys the ride i do even more so.
It has a 300 mile cruising range, 7 gallon fuel tank.
With that it is a bit top heavy with a full tank of fuel but once under way its very nimble, for 640 or so lbs.
Hard, very water resistant side bags that make nice lockable, removable luggage with handles.
Enough room for a full face helmet, and gloves.
We have done many weekend trips on this one.
Foot peg placement takes some getting used to in that our boots hit each other so we have some adjusting to do when we first get out.
Comfortable upright riding pos for 300 + mile days.
Sporty and aggressive in the twisties.
Good power for 2 up on mountain roads, It's no concourse 1400 here.
Low manit.
Very reliable.
Price, my 1995 was $3600.00 5 years ago.
Maybe worth $3000.00 now
Good amount of torque for an 1100, silky smooth, reasonably quiet.
Its smooth, fast, stable, and roomy.
I have added a Michelin PR2's, a fork stabilizer, Givi Trunk, heated grips, autocom, nautilus horn & brake light flashing kit.
I like the bike a lot and the value for the money is there. If you are in the Seattle area you are welcome to take mine for a ride.

Appreciate the offer, but that's a long way to go for a test ride. lol I live in Tulsa, Ok.

Momma likes to ride, but she likes her comforts. Heck I'm old enough the iron-butt
doesn't appeal any more. It's nice to get an opinion from someone whose not trying
to sell me something. The NV-700's look sweet, too, but a little to small for 2-up comfort.

Thanks, Ern

Yeah there are a few miles between here & there, I have seen 2 up on VFR's I don't know how comfortable it would be but those VFR's sure are sweet.
Good luck there in Tulsa i hear pretty wicked weather reports from your neck of the woods. Those spinning clouds sure make a lot of trouble...
