This past weekend I bought a 2002 CBR 600 F4i with only 1,700 miles. I have been riding for the past 2 years and this will be my 3rd bike. My starter was an 01 Buell Blast. I then moved (way) up to a 1991 Goldwing because my wife thought she would ride more and would feel more comfortable with back rest. She ended up hardly riding last summer and Ididn't want to lug that thing around and only ride 1-up most of the time. I ended up selling the GW and narrowed my search to an F4i and I found one to buy in Minnesota.

The bike I bought did come with a Power Commander, whichhas never been installed. Besides that everything on the bike is stock. I'm looking forward to meeting some other CBR'ers on here and getting to know you guys and gals. I'm sure I'llbe trying to tap into all this CBR expertise around here!!!

I live in Huxley...which is right between Ames and Ankeny. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as time goes by. In the near future I'm going to try and change my own oil. If I'm not sure what the previous owner ran for oil is there anything specific I should do? I'm planning on running full synthetic (like Mobil 1)but should I hold off for a while as the bike only has 1,700 miles? Thanks in advance.

 

i think you might want to change it so you know when the next oil change should be. thats cool i m in ames right now at isu. my bike is cr though. i usually go to a honda shop and get oil there. overall it doesnt really matter. if you want to just ask a tech and the shop.
