New Comer to HONDA
Hello everyone,
I would like to start of by giving some background.
I started riding last year. Picked up my first bike in Oct 2011, 2002 Yamaha R6. That bike fit me well and I did some work to it to allow for some touring. This July I set out on a trip out west on my R6. Started in Milton, Ontario headed through northern Ontario. Then south into Minnesota, USA. I made it to, South Dakota Badlands, Black Hills, Beartooth Trail & Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming/Montana, Glacier National Park, then through Washington into Seattle. After Seattle I headed north into British Columbia, and stayed there for a week or so with some family. I then headed east through Canada towards home. About 45min into my second day, a lot of 4 deer decided to jump out infront of me and I struck the first one centre mass. Totalled the R6 and sent me flying 70' down the 2 lane highway. I escaped with a broken hand and a couple bruised ribs.
Because it was so far from home I sold the R6 to a local Wrecker. Recently I picked up a new to me 1999 CBR600F4, I needs some work mostly cosmetic. I plan to paint it Matte Black with basic white decals.

Hello, that's quite a story. Sounded like a great trip until the deer got in your way. Good that you made it out alive. The F4 will be a reliable and comfortable bike for you. I like the yellow, but matte black is still going to look great, especially if you do the split seat conversion. Gotcbr has details of it in his gallery.

Welcome to CBRF Geoff!
Great intro. Sounds like a great trip sans the demise of your bike & the injuries. Sorry you lost your R6 but gained an F4. I'm an F4 owner as well. In fact, mine used to look like yours until I did the split-seat conversion (link to my tutorial is in my sig-line).
Glad you found us & joined. Hope you bike mods/etc go well. Good to have you w/ us.

Welcome to the CBR Forum Geoff.
Sounded like a fantastic trip until the deer struck! It sounds as if the deer over there are as stupid as our kangaroos. Still, I'm glad you were not seriously hurt and have managed to get a great bike and find the forum. Well done. Now steer clear of suicidal animals with the Honda
Any plans to tour with the Honda?
Cheers, SB

Well, She's done.
Still too cold to go riding here but I can stare and make motor noises as I sit on her :P
I really like the paint job and the decals add to the character.

At first I hadn't planed on doing any touring, although, my sister recently picked up a 2001 ninja 500R as her first bike and we are going to travel the blue ridge parkway, deals gap and into Nashville. We have 10-12 days for this trip hopefully in July.
The only problem I have is the high exhaust and saddle bags, any suggestions?
Cheers,
Geoff
