Hey everyone, I wanted to drop a quick line! I am about 10 hours away from buying a 2001 F4I 600. I am buying it for $3100 he was asking $3500the plastics are THRASHED, the motor was replaced and has about 4000 ticks on it. It has a power commander and misc other items. The bike was used for a local track bike, then the 2nd owner bought it and had a lowside on some gravel.
Couple Questions before I purchase
- Is that a good price?
- I saw some places on Fleabay that have full plastics for about $600, but they are in hong kong, anyone use them before?
- What should I look for as far as known issues?
Any thoughts would be great, I am suppose to pick this up in the morning.
Thanks everyone and I am a big supporter of forums and this looks like another great place!

RE: New to CBR's couple Questions
was the motor replaced before or after it was used for a track bike ?
you can probably find oem plactics either here on this board, craigslist, etc instead of getting the hong kong plastics (not knocking them but if you can get oem then do it)
as with any bike look for tire wear, chain & sprockets condition, leaking (fork seals, stator covers, oil pan) check electrical and make sure everything works the way it should.
and most of all if you dont know what you are looking @ or for please try and take someone with you who does. welcome and good luck

Everything seemed tight, chain was lubed and seemed to be a proper tightness, sprocket looked good. Electrical is all good. I was thinking the blue book was around 4500 so for the price and throw some plastics on it should be good!

Well I decided not to purchase the track bike, and I bought an 02 600 F4I from RCKT Girl. Was laid down on the right side very light damage. Picked it up tonight

I personally wouldn't spend hard-earned dough on a former track-bike.
