Default New to CBR

Been lurking for a bit, joined today. Nice site, plenty of info. I've had 2 bikes over the last several years. I had a 2004 Suzuki SV650S, and then moved to a 2006 GSXR 750 after a couple of years. I had to sell my 750 2 years ago, and now want to get back into riding. I've only had Suzukis in the past, and with them pulling out of the US, I wanted to try something different. I have looked at the R6 and the CBR600RR. I've been looking at a new 2009 CBR, and a couple of used ones.

I found what I think is a good deal on a 2007 CBR600RR. Maybe someone could let me know.

Blue and silver 2007 CBR600RR, 1187 miles. I did a physical inspection of the bike, and it has no visible damage, is very clean and appears well maintained. Chain is in great condition, as are tires etc. Price is $5,900. Any thoughts?

I also know you guys will be biased, but any thoughts on the R6? Looking at a used 08 and a new 09. Pros & Cons vs the CBR? I do plan to do some track days once I get used to riding again, but will mainly be used for commuting, and widing backroads on the weekends.

Again, great site, and maybe I'll be seeing more of it if I get the CBR.

Hi Sublimination!

I bought my '07 CBR600RR for $6250 with 3700 miles. I think you've got a great deal there, but I'm sure other members would know a little better than me (this is my first bike, but I did a lot of shopping around).

Thanks for the welcome. It looks like a great deal, although, I did just find a new 2009 leftover for $8,299 + TT&L 0 miles in the black/dark grey.... now I'm tempted to go new.

Welcome!
They both sound like good deals....I guess it all depends and what you want/how much $ U want to spend.
Good luck and enjoy the forum

well i just bought a brand new 09 CBR, 0miles on it. I can say that I am really impressed with the bike. I was looking for about 5 months before i decided to settle down on this one. I did some comparisons between the big 3: Honda, Kawai, and Yamaha. And honestly the Yamaha is really not that great of a bike, especially if your looking at a 600. A 1000 gets a little better, but I would stick with Honda.

Default deals to be had

Not a bad deal but to give you an idea of what you can find out there, I picked up my 2007 CBR 1000 RR last month for $5400. It only had 5,000 miles on it and still has 2 years warranty since it was purchased in 2009 new from the dealer.

If you haven't bought a bike yet, I would suggest really looking around and talk to the guys selling them. More often than not they are trying to dump the bike to make a payment on something else and you can usually talk them down quite a bit. My bike was listed for $7800, got it for $5400 and he paid for the new tags that day. It is unfortunate but their loss is your gain. If you have the money to spend now is the time to buy.
