Default New from AZ

Hello all!

I'm from Phoenix, AZ and have been wanting to get back riding for at least 5 years now. I've got a 4 year old and a 2 year old so I've been holding off, but I've been telling my wife "I'm going to come home one day with a motorcycle so be prepared. This is your warning!" Well, it happened today, 5 hrs ago. I purchased a 1998 CBR 600 F3 from a woman that won it in a divorce! $700 bucks and all it needs to be riden is a new tank (there's a leak somewhere). The fairings are pretty trashed and it's purple and yellow (not sure how i feel about that yet, not to mention the front yellow rim and the back purple [:-]). I haven't told my wife yet and I can't wait to see / hear her reaction. It's okay, i'll smile all day long out on the bike!

Anyway, there's my introduction! I look forward to being part of future threads!

Welcome to CBRF Big John!! We look forward to hearing from you in future threads. I've had a bike for 14 yearsthrough a marriage and two kids and it doesn't have to get in the way of anything. Justbring home some flowerson the day you bring home the bikeand every othe timeyou take it out. $700 sounds like a good deal as long as it runs well.

Keep smilin' on that bike and be safe out there

Oh...and what's wrong with a little bit of purple on your bike?

Hmmm.. Well, I found out something interesting. The fairings are off the bike right now so it's difficult for me to judge how I'm going to like the colo scheme, however, I think it might be a smoking joe! Does anyone know how to tell from the VIN? I've read that 253 in the VIN indicates SJ and mine does have that.

Thanks in advanced!

BJS

I found one or two for sale on the internet and they both had 253 in the VIN # (the 6th, 7th, and 8th numbers. Not conclusive, but more evidence in your favor.

Sounds like a sweet ride, get her back together and we'll head out for a ride. I'm out in surprise.

I'll have possession of the bike tomorrow morning. When shopping insurance rates I used the VIN number for a more accurate rate and discovered something else. According to my VIN number and the insurance sights, my bike is a 600se. I'm not sure what the "se" is but I'm leaning more towards SJ since both sights also listed 600 F3 and 600 SE. The thning that throws me off is that the fairings look to say, "Smokin Hoe" *****! I'm wondering if the previous owner is just a clown or what! I guess tomorrow I'll finally be able to get some really good looks at it!
