Default New 2000 CBR F4 owner, Help me decide what I am going to do to it. 2 options.

Alright I bought a 2000 Honda CBR F4...

It was stunted for about 500 of its 6500 miles on the odo.
The plastics, tank, and windscreen are Rhino Lined. The rhino line is cheap and flaking off in several place. I am going to upload some pictures of the bike and keep you all updated during this transformation process.

But none the less here are the 2 directions i have for this bike i just dont know which to take.

Option A:
Strip and re-rhino line the bike correctly with good quality material. The color scheme would then be the flat black color of the rhino line, powder coat the frame flat red , and have an accent color ONLY on the wall of the rims in flat red! Just the wall of the rim would be red, not the spokes, spokes would still be black. This is a little more of the gangster look with the flat black and red...

Option B: Get new plastics, (if i can not strip all of this rhino lining off with this chemical i have) and paint them glossy black, powder coat the frame the same the same color as the wall of my rims which would be a real deap dark tealish/greenish/bluish color... and same deal with the rims, it would be the wall of the rim and the spokes would remain black... This is a very clean look...

Let me know your opinions guys, i respect each and everyones opinion, so if you have any input at all please let me have it I would like to know how you feel about it. Also if you have any other suggestions please let me know....

I would love to do a solid white bike, but i believe that it would be very hard to pull of and look clean and not just thrown together.

Ok thanks guys, do yals thang! ha

Welcome aboard & congrats on your acquisition.

Focus first on making sure your bike is in good operating order. Change fluids, check brakes - replace as necessary, check chain & sprockets - replace as necessary, inspect suspension - change settings as necessary, etc. Once you've done this, then work on cosmetics.

As for cosmetics... I believe you'll find that its more trouble than its worth to try & strip off that stuff. Get replacement plastics...new or used. Maybe you can sell the used parts on stunter boards, CL, ebay, etc, to help cover the cost of replacements.

Whichever way you go, best of luck.

Hey thank you for the welcome!
There is a fairly new chain on there, maybe a few months, and the sprocket is still pretty solid. I am about to take it up to Cycle Gear (Memphis, Tn) and have them check out all my fluids and brakes, and other such necessities. I am about to change my oil now, and then once in about march before the season. I have rode this whole past week but one night i got home and it was 29 and 28 degrees, ha i'd say thats about as cold as i am willing to ride in for 30+ minutes at a time.

Since I will not be riding too much now, maybe two or three a week so that is why i was going to plan on working over the cosmetics and stuff now.

Just curious as to which style or paint scheme people preferred.

Yeah, Memphis is a crazy town for riding!

Don't remember if it was on this board or not but I've seen a 2000 that had the F4i split seat conversion done, that had the all white paint scheme w/ just the black Honda tank stickers...looked great.

Good luck.

Yes memphis riding is difficult. Somewhat frightening, because i know in general that people have to awareness for motorcyclists but it seems like memphis has the worst of them...

Thanks for you guys help!... I will try and get some pics up tonight!
