Default New 1990 CBR1000F wanna be

Hello everyone. I'm considering the purchase of the below 1990 CBR1000F.

1. Really how rare are these 1990 CBR1000Fs?
2. The color is the silver and gray version. Is this a common or rare color?
3. Is there something I should be looking out for when I go and possible hand over the money?
4. I did ask a lot of questions but is there something I should be asking specifically about this years model?

I don't know about #1 & 2, but I'd want any/all service records or receipts if they did any work themselves. I'd also be inclined to ask if they could have at least one side fairing off so I could see the actual mechanicals. Or, barring that, take a powerful little flashlight so you can peer in there and make sure everything looks decent.

From the pic, it does look to be in very nice condition but I've gone to look at numerous vehicles that looked great in the pics, only to be VERY unpleasantly surprised in person...

Good luck and let us know how it goes, regardless!

To answer the 1st question, they were not rare at all when they were produced. How many are left is a different story. The bike is 31ish years old. I think that it also depends on where you live. In there area of the country (USA), sport bikes are not nearly as popular as cruisers and even less than anything off road.
The 2nd question kind of applies to the first question. I've seen several of them but not as many as the flasher schemes.
@Doc Samson is spot on with his advice concerning the condition.
As to the last question, nothing that I know of comes to mind.

Thank you very much for your feedback guys! I did go look at it last night. He wanted to meet in a parking lot near his house so we couldn't remove a fairing panel to look around. I did take a small flash light so I could look around inside the fairing. It did have some oil up front on the engine above the oil filter and some rust on the pipes underneath behind the lower portion of the lower fairings. Other than a couple of very miner issues I had with it everything works as it should. He purchased it from a man in Michigan 7 years ago just because he likes the CBR1000F and within the 7 years he only put around 200 miles on it.

As much as I like this motorcycle and how much I really really wanted it I'm gonna take a pass on it. I believe the price is a little too steep and he is unwilling to budge on the price. He's asking $5,800. He told me he was going to post it for sale at $6,800 but decided against it. Granted the bike only has 15,400 miles that still doesn't negate the fact that it's 31 years old.

So, I'm really sorry I couldn't work this one out and justify the purchase but that's the way it goes. Thank you, once again, for your advice.

Sorry to hear that it didn’t work out. That is pretty steep of a price not gonna lie.
Inn the future one thing to keep in mind is to want to see the bike when it is stone cold. That way you can see how it starts from cold. I even suggest touching the exhaust to see if it has been started prior to your arrival. If it has that could be a warning flag of an issue.

A bike that old that only ran 200 miles over the last 7 years would definitely concern me! Add in that super steep price and I think you were right to pass on it!

Wish you luck in finding one that is suitable for you and hope to see you back here!
