New 08 1K owner from Chicago
Hello all,
Just bought an 08 CBR1000RR today. Mint shape, 930 miles, good deal on price, just couldn't pass it up, and I've considered this exact bike and color (dark red/silver) since it came out 3 years ago. The test ride sold it - it rode freaking perfect, smooth, big power, high-quality feel to all the controls, and it handled really nicely. I've ridden maybe 20 different sportbikes over the past year or two, and this is one of the best, if not the best (need more seat time!).
So now I have this, plus an 03 FZ-1, an 03 Suzuki SV1000S, a 2000 SV650 (track bike mostly), and an 08 Star Stratoliner. Will be putting the FZ-1 and SV1000S up for sale next week. Great bikes, both really well set up, but 5 bikes is just nuts. (at least at my current financial level it is)
I'm in the western burbs, ride with a good group of guys with all sorts of sportbikes, from a beat-up CBR F3 to a Desmosedici, with Ducati's, MV's, an Aprilia, Gixxers, and others in between. Big ride planned this Saturday (to Triumph Janesville's fall open house), may take the CBR, but may decide to get a last ride in for the FZ or SV before they're gone.
Thanks, and look forward to meeting some of you on the road. Feel free to let me know who here knows these bikes the best (shops with good CS and reps, dynos, etc) in the Chicago area.

PICS:
Here she is, just picked it up today. All stock except for the undertail and the shield. Usually I do some things to my bikes, but this one is just about perfect the way it is, so it may stay this way for a while.
A ride with some friends (my FZ-1 is in there, and that 2010 MV is ****):
Another ride with friends (my SV is at the far left, but no one gives a sh*t when the Desmosedici is nearby):
My SV1000S - It really is a great bike, and sounds as good as any Ducati (really!):
