my first bike, cbr1000RR
I'd say it's a bit much for a first bike but you're the one paying the $$ so it's really not my bidness, eh? Hope you saved a little in your budget for gear. It is a nice bike -- hope ya enjoy it. Oh, and welcome to the board!
Would tend to agree that maybe its a bit much for a first bike....will you get the confidence to ride it properly or be scared ****less to open it up? Do you know how bikes react in certain situations?
Just remember it will only go as fast as you twist that throttle. Great bike, enjoy it.....safely!

I tend to agree: a litre sportbike is maybe a little too much to begin with: the anchors are really powerful and dangerous in non experienced hand, the power (and torque) comes strong from bottom and increases fast, which involves a lot of anticipation into riding.
A friend wanted to start riding bikes a chose the 1000RR; 6 months later, he still was ****ting himself and missed 3 times the licence. He stopped for a while, and traded the 1000 for the 600RR, which seems to be fine now: quickier in steering, power buliding very linear, same look... he's making big progresses and I don't doubt he will success at the licence test.
Another friend jumped on a R1 and all went very well. A lot of parameters (responsibility, maturity, kind of bike, kind of friends, urban environment, etc.) may influence your destiny.
Any way, don't hesitate to take lessons and training sessions !! And have fun !!!

well, you wont need to upgrade once you become a confident rider, just remeber not to twist that throttle to fast, I have seen many people flip over and wreck new bikes because of that.
Welcome
Welcome
be carefull, know your limits, and wear your gear!! as long as you don't try to use all the bikes got you'll be fine, take it slow and as you get more comfortable riding you can start pushing it more and more. you won't get bored with it, that's for sure!
