Default To late....noobie

Just found this sight and wish I would I have found it earlier. I just bought an 03 cbr 954. I have no street motorcycle experience whatsoever. I have ridden dirt bikes and am an avid mountain biker but as I have recently discovered they are nowhere close to a sport bike. I am currently trying to get enrolled in the MSF course and just learn slowly but surely. Any advice besides sell the CBR?

welcome! damn... never ridden and you bought a 954? lol... nice! you don't have to sell it. as long as you're responsible and take your time to learn the bike (respect it!)... you should be fine. the msf course is a great idea too! oh yeah, and easy on the throttle cuz that thing has a tad more power than most mtn bikes i've ridden...

as previously stated- take your time. as long as you dont attempt full throttle out of your driveway right away, you should be fine since you have some riding experience.

btw- my neighbor just wrecked his 954 by showing off for his girlfriend. so- pride in keeping the bike upright is much better than making excuses for why you layed it down. take it easy!!!!!

Respect that throttle, keep your eyes and aware of everything around you. Complete that safety course ASAP!

Nice bike choice, and welcome.

while waiting for the MSF course, read:

Twist of the Wrist I and II

That will help.

All Your Gear All The Time is one rule you ought to live by for the next year or so. If you don't have good leathers, buy some immediately. If you want to make your wife a great passenger, don't take her with for quite awhile, take it easy when you do, and do not scare her. That's a lot of bike you bought, but YOU control the throttle. Keep it between the ditches with the shiny side up!
