Default insurance on new bike 800 a month? what do you pay?

newbie.. just bought 1st bike. 06 cbr1000rr. geico is saying 9,600 a year. no this is not a misprint. like 800 a month. i check progressive and they are saying like 180 a month. alot better than geico but still high i think?? but i dont really know it's my 1st one. i've heard american family is good? will be checking them tomorrow. but what do you guys think is right. im 24, will be 25 in a month. married for 2 years, owned home since 18 (for some reason they ask about home ownership). no accidents at all or tickets in 5 years. clean driving record. any help is apreciated

I laughed when I was quoted 2400 a year when I bought mine new in 05. I'd shoot at someone for trying to me 9600!!!!

I shopped around and now I pay around $80 a month for full coverage. The title is in my hand now so I'm thinking about dropping full coverage cause if anything every happen, I couldn't afford to use the insurance. Could you imagine what my insurance would be if I turned in a claim to replace a stolen bike?

i guess you'd replace it then sell the new one cause you wouldn't be able to insure it after a claim like that.

That's what I'm saying... you can go buy a new bike of choice for the $180 a month you were quoted.

I got liability for 37 a month thru Progressive....but then agin im 36 too..LOL..got tow speeders this summer that may change that but not much...and my record isnt that bad...one speeder a year but no conviction..always take the online traffic school...so if your financin ...get ready to bite the bullet but im like DC...mines paid for so i just carry liability if it goes downn....ill just scrap it out...and walk away....good luck with that

it will get lot cheaper if ur over 25 of age ~ u already have a good driving records so ~ just gota chill out till 25 .. try to get a quote from statefarm if u can ~ i went through statefarm due to lowest monthly payments ( not bad for 31bucks a month4full coverage ) .. plus i heard it how big ur CC's matters too

State Farm is one of the best for insuring a bike IMO, but you need to have your car insured with them. The more you have insured with them, the cheaper it all will be. I have my house, 3 cars, and 3 bikes insured with them. I've had claims before and they don't shoot up through the roof.

I think dwhite645 said he had State Farm as well. For those that don't know, he just totaled his 06 F4i and got quotes from them for a 600 and 1000 and said his rates weren't going up other than if he moved up to a 1000 because of the increase in CC's.

I insure my bike through State Farm, too. About $45/months for full coverage, $500 deductible on collision, no deductible on comprehensive (tree falls on it or it gets stolen), $100k/$300k liability. I do have my car, truck and house insured with them, too. State Farm is a decent and reliable company, though I bet you can shop for a better rate if you have the time and patience.
