IMA NEWBIE
I am new to this forum.. although I am not new to engines... I am very curious as to why honda would use a shift drum that doesn't engage second gear fully into the shift cogs? I just did surgery to my tranny and on 2nd gear, it can still engage another .065" and still have .010" clearance before bottoming out the gears. I have installed Factory Pro Tuning full shift enhancement kit ( consisting of needle bearing fulcrom, stronger fulcrom spring, and shift drum). Still wary of undercutting my cogs due to the fact that they chamfer themselves after a few mis-shifts lol. I would bet on it that if the shift kit was installed prior to encountering mis-shifts then the gears wouldn't chamfer themselves. But for me I didn't split my cases and replace my gears, just hoped that a shift drum and forks along with the shift kit would get holding, but it is still pushing out due to the damage on the gears.
Long story short, I am curious if anyone has found an alternative solution to this problem... maybe a re-tuned shift drum? or a company who can machine a shift drum to do what it is supposed to do??

What is the shift drum cog thing you speak of???
Welcome to the forum. Maybe post this question on the 'general tech' section and one of many Honda techs will have an answer or something. Don't forget to let them know what you ride.

Thank You all for the welcomes!!!! Its nice to actually be in with some polite people..
Oh, the 'shift drum' is the component that rotates and moves the shift forks as you shift, 'shift cogs' are the "syncronizing' components that are cut into the side of the gears so that when the shift fork moves the gear over to the next, they lock into each other.
