Hello CBRForum.

Name's Dan and I'm a total noob when it comes to bikes. I'm always reluctant to post in the newb sections of any forum, but looking around, it doesn't seem like unnecessary flame battles are going around.

Anyways, I've always held interest in bikes and have been wanting to purchase one for quite some time now. A buddy of mine recently returned home after two years to find his 03 600RR no longer running (surprise! [sm=smiley24.gif]). All the fluids were sitting in the bike whilst he was away. He gets power and the bike tries to start but it doesn't catch. He's willing to part with it for 2,000 dollars.

My question to you pros is obviously whether or not this is fair. Mileage is around 5400 and the body is far from mint. I think it'd be a hella fun project, but, roughly, how much cash is going to be needed to fix the damage that's been done?
If you guys could help me out with some sound and experienced advice, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks.

 

Hey, thanks for the input. I've decided to go through with it. I spoke with a Honda service technician and he explained all that needs to be done. It shouldn't break 300 dollars for everythng including labor. I'm a noob to bikes but not to cars so with my little knowledge, I'll give it a shot myself.

Can anyone point me to a good place online for good pricing on partts for RR's?

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it. This specific bike was the first one I'd ever ridden. Since then I've test ridden numerous bikes. The thought of riding regularly is still daunting though.
