how many people fail MSF?
Of the 11 in my class 3 failed.
They were older people 60+, and for the most part couldn't figure out the clutch or were really to sickly looking to be in a hot parking lot all day long.

Well the first day is over and I have positive impressions. These guys each have been riding 30 years and it is a private company. Each guy used to teach the MSF at the universities and colleges where there were 50-140 people. THis is a more intimate approach. However when I mentioned which are good bikes to start on they ALL had the philosophy that any bike as long as you understand and can really emphasize good throttle control. I don't know about that! But if the next two days of riding go well (still haven't been on the bike) I think I am going to either go for the 600rr if I am really confident or I am looking at the FZR yamaha 2007. Does anyone have any opinions on that bike? Its slower and the riding position is higher and I know it would be a better learner. THe only thing is I feel that is like saying "would you have a 16 year old on a viper (fast) or a enzo (faster)....both are lethal. lol.

I agree...however to consistantly have the restraint and self control to not get yourself in trouble is another story. That is the question you need to ask yourself. If you can be rock steady for a few months, then gradually expand your riding then go for it. If you are a maniac like I was, then you may want to start smaller.

Good luck and enjoy the class...keep us posted.
At least in my class, you were not in trouble for dropping the bike, which one guy did rather impressively during the braking practice. The only time it was a problem was during the riding portion of the test. If you did it then, you failed.
I had about 12 people in my class, and I think two failed. One lady was justhopeless. I think the other guy failedbecause of nerves. He did well during the whole class, but messed up the riding test. If you fail, you will feel like this:
