How does the F4i stack up for a beginner?
hey everyone, i am new to the site, well...also new to streetbikes. Im 19, and just got the "OK" from my parents to get a bike. I am signed up for the MSF basic rider safety course for the end of May, and am looking for a good bike, most likely used. I was researching Honda, and have always loved the looks of the CBRs, thus why im here. I was going for the CBR F4i, 2002-05 model. My question is would i be able to ride this comfortably as being my first bike, or should i start with something smaller, like the Suzuki sv650 s? My buddy has that suzuki, and he said its a good starter bike, but i really would like the F4i. So to sum up...is it (F4i) a bike that a beginner would be able to control?

many ppl will tell you not to begin on a 600 sport bike but the f4i was my first bike and ive been fine. your already off to a good start with the msf course got so much useful info from that was well worth it. the biggest thing is restraint staying with what your abilities are any bike will kill you if you dont respect it. if you take your time dont try to be a show off and always respect the power you have you will be fine. i was going to go with a twin but decided that i didnt want to buy a new bike a yr after i got it and was ready for more power. its really your decision but if you can show some control over the throttle and always respect the machine this is a fine beginners bike.

welcome! i see you're from st louis. we've got a few members from there. i'm about 90 min away.
getting back to your question... the F4i is a great bike - beginner or otherwise. as long as you're responsible, not a showboat, take your time to learn/respect the bike... you'll be fine.
