Default Help me identify this Honda Sportbike

Hey guys,

I'm new here because I am thinking of buying a used Honda CBR. I'm in Korea in the military and one of the guys does not ride or take care of this motorcycle. It is killing me and while I have never owned a CBR, I do have a 2008 R6 back home.

Is this an F4 CBR 600? Anyone know what year, by chance. The current owner hardly knows who makes the bike and is like pulling teeth for information.

I know it is in rough shape. I do not know all of the small changes between that of a F4 or F4i besides the carb/DFI and sometimes the seats were split and other times not. All F4's I look at have the banana seat but know Yamahas much better. If I knew more about what type of bike it is, it would be easier to make an offer to the guy. I'm thinking a few 100 bucks since it is older and cars here around the same age go for under $1000.

Please help me out. Thank you

Yup definatly looks like a 00/01 929! Unless they made a 600 with the same headlight? Since the current owner sounds like a turd sandwich, I would start with 800, but not go over 3000. Depending on mileage. I would definatley say it needs a new chain, probly some tires (if those are dryrotted), some soap, water and a lot of elbow grease! Good luck!

Hey, I'm working in Korea right now, where abouts are you? Your standard 929 in moderate condition goes for around $5000 right now in Korea. If you want one that's in good condition, you can look upwards of $6k. If you're in the north, let me know your budget and maybe I can help you out with finding a bike.

I'm at Kunsan. From what I have heard about this bike from people who were here over winter was the bike starts, but he never road it. It sat in the snow and for whatever reason, he never takes it out. I have been riding bike my entire life (just recently street bikes) but if he is not willing to get rid of it for a decent price, I won't buy. I don't want to spend too much money since I'm sure riding season is limited being so close to the coast.

I can buy a car for under $1000 down here. I really wouldn't mind picking this up for cheap and putting some money into it so restore it a bit. This all depends on how many miles it has and a closer inspection. I know it needs a new chain, I'm sure fluids, new grips, plastics need replaced or tightened up (missing a lot of the nylon screws), new filters, new seat, etc.

It does have an exhaust, bar ends, sliders, etc - someone cared about the bike at some point, but either lost interest or this thing has been handed down too many times to remember like everything else in this country we use in the military.
