Default Help With Key

I just bought a 98 CBR 900 and it came with one key.
I tried to get another copied but the lock smith said it had been copied before and he could
not get another copy to work in my bike. Does anyone know where the key code is?
I don't like only having one key for my ride. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

What about a honda dealer. I know that it might be expensive but it might be worth it.

I didn't have the key code, just the one key, so i took it to the Honda dealer and left my bike overnight and they cut me a new key and programmed it. Cost me about $70. I know there's a limit though on the number of keys you can have copied per bike. Why i dunno

Worst case senario, you can order a new lock set. It will have a new ignition lock, cas cap, and trunk lock and come with 2 keys. I think I paid around $180 for my set. But my ignition switch was shot, so I didn't have a choice.

$180 is not bad at all, where i'm at they'll probably charge me an arm and a leg though so getting the key done was the best choice at the mo
