Default Hello there...

Hi Lads n Lasses.

My name in Leigh, i live in Ireland (no choice but to ride in bad weather) i'm almost 39 and have treated myself to my first bike, a 1991 CBR 600F2.

I'm a newbie and i don't really know anyone locally to seek advise, so hopefully i can call on the help of the forum if needed.

To me the bike seems to be in really good condition, i hope to upload some pictures to get your opinions on condition/wear of any parts i'm unsure of.

So here she is...

Is it wrong that all i want to do is ride ? it seems to be becoming a lovable addiction ! :-)

Welcome in Leigh, ask any questions you may have and we`ll do our best to aswer em!

Nice looking bike you got there, same year as my old F2 was. Seems to be in pretty much stock condish apart from the paint. First thing I spotted though but can`t really make out from the pics, is there a reservoir for the shock absorber in the right passenger rearset? Cause that would indicate that someone had at some point swapped an F3 rear shock in there, possibly the whole swing.

Anyway the F2 is a fairly simple bike and pretty easy to upkeep yourself if only you know which way to hold a spanner. For most of the problems there probly is an answer already somewhere in the forum, but if you can`t find em just ask away.

Thanks for the welcome, yes there is a reservoir atbthe back so guessing it's been changed at some point ? How do I know if the swing arm is off an F3 ? I'm going to strip off the failings and post some pictures for you to have a look at and see if there are any other suprises

Should I start a sepperate thread from now ?

Leigh

Welcome to the CBR Forum Leigh,

Nice intro, nice looking 600 and yes, riding is addictive!

And yes, start a new thread detailing the work you are doing to your bike.

Cheers, SB

How do I know if the swing arm is off an F3
Honestly, I don't remember if you can tell bit of a brainfart from my behalf, it was the FRONT end that you gotta swap as a whole...

The last year for the F2 had reservoir shock, aluminum passenger pegs, and silver forks with rebound adjustment & proload, not just preload which previous years had. Which look like you have. And silver front brake caliper which you dont have. So it appears someone updated your 91 a little bit. If I'm not mistaken I believe the F3 has a larger swing arm bolt through the frame, 14mm for F2 and 17mm for F3, I think. Oh, by the way, welcome to the forum, you'll friggin love it.

You need a proxy server like photobucket, picasa or what have you, and use the BB code IMG tags to link the photos here.
