Talking Hello to all..............

I bought a 1990 1000f 2 months ago. $1400 fair to good shape. 1993 engine. runs good enough to get me around, only transportation. Very disappointed at the low HP. I bought a gixxer 1100 in 1989 new. that thing was a monster compared to the CBR. All in all it seems like a good bike but, why did Honda go with steel EVERYTHING? If you are wondering you can put a 190 on the rear without ill effect. I have Conti sport attack 2s on her now. It has the normal problems ive read about. What 23 yo bike doesnt have problems? Also why cant i view pictures in posts? Good day to all and have a great weekend. My name is Mike.

Welcome to the forum Mike.

That gixxer was a monster. I had one back then too, but compared to my 929rr it was a pig. But back in the day it was king....

You are having trouble viewing pics because of your account being in moderation. Keep posting and soon you will be cleared and all will be well.

Thank you Jay and Demon for the greetings. I will keep on checking out the forum. I have already learned a great deal about the 1000f here.

Welcome to CBRF, Mike! Ton's of 'canes here. How low on the hp is the bike? It should have 120 hp or so, shouldn't it?

G'day Mike and welcome to the CBR Forum,

The CBR1000F is best looked at these days as a "Gentlemen's Express" other than Missynett who has the "Lady's Express version"

Not the same power delivery as the old dinosaur GSX-R 11s

And for the best handling - a 180 is the largest on the rear of the Mark 2/3 CBR1000F I would put on.

Cheers, SB

Thank you Conrice and Sebastionbear for the greetings. Conrice my bike has the hp it is supposed to have. I was expecting it to be more on par with my first new bike 1989 gixxer 1100. Tire in the air and easier to flick and all.Being that I am a 46 yo rider I am happy with the ergos and ride. Sebastionbear I bought new tires from a friend. Conti sportattack 2s from his s1000rr bimmer. $60 for the set, new. I was told a 190 rear would act funny at speed in corners. So far the rear is fine. Im about 1/4 inch from the edge at lean with no ill effects. Cant quite drag my knee yet. they wear very fast though, even for $60. sport touring tires of proper size are soon to come for her though.
