Default Greetings from Knoxville TN

Hi all,

David From Knoxville TN and I was just given a 2001 CBR 600 F4i by one of my friends.
Overall its in very good shape but has been ridden a bit hard. Nothing major wrong and it looks very nice.
Got it home last week and had to tear into it because it wouldn't start. Fuel pump was getting power but wouldn't spin up so I pulled the pump, tore it down, cleaned it and ut it all back together and it worked. Reassembled everything and hit the start button and Vroom! She came to life. Still have to replace the rear brakes and I think the mastercylinder needs to be rebuilt which I'll do this weekend. Just not pumping any fluid.

Not new to bikes as I fully restored a 1982 Yamaha XZ550 RJ basket case. Its now a mix of 82 and 83 with most of the suspension and braking coming from the much better 83 model. Its a lot heavier than the CBR and has about 1/2 the horsepower so it was a big change taking the CBR out for a spin - without the rear brakes...who uses them anyway?

Been providing lots of tips and advice on the Vision on its own forum so I'm happy to join up here and learn as much as I can then pay it forward. Also been lurking here for the last couple weeks reading up and learning.

I've attached a photo of the CBR and my Vision.

David

Welcome aboard David. Sounds like you've got yourself a good F4i fixer-upper. I like the Jardine pipe too. Hope the bike works out well for you.

Love the ole Yamaha. Question: is that one of the HF dollies? How do you like it?

Thanks Guys for the welcome.

Yep, thats one of the 60.00 HF dollies. Its ok.. good for moving the bikes when the cars are in the somewhat small 2 car garage I have. It's not the easiest thing to move with the solid wheels. Gets stuck on the smallest little grains of sand. Spent many times jumping to catch 500 lbs of XZ550. I guess I need to sweep my garage more often.

As far as the quality, the dolly itself is very solid but the bolts were cheap as crap and I sheered several of them off putting it together. Replaced all of tem and tried again. Increased the cost by a few $$.

Thanks regener8ed,

I've got a bit of experience but mostly with older carbeurated, non-ecm bikes. I'm a quick learner and like to help as much as I can. :-)
