Default Greetings from Iowa

Hi all, looks like a wealth of knowledge available here. I'm glad I found this site. I just purchased a 1990 CBR600 for the princely sum of $150. No title, doesn't run, but I hope to both get it titled and running. My feeling is that as a worst case scenario I should be able to use it as a drag bike even if I am unable to get it titled. Thanks for looking at my post, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome to the Forums, hey short money for a good bike and she seems to have
most of the plastic on it. Round here anything over 16 years old can be registered
without a title ! Hope it's the same for you

Lj 900RReno, I don't know what is wrong with the bike yet. The previous owner said that the bike had run when he bought it, but after sitting for a few months he couldn't get it started. Hopefully it's as simple as a cleanup of the carbs.

Sprock, she does have all plastic--I had the side covers removed when I snapped the pic. Almost all of the plastic is damaged in one way or another, but I think enough is there to make it all work with some repair. In Iowa a vehicle that comes with no title can be titled after a search is made on the VIN to make sure the bike isn't stolen or that it wasn't written off with a junk title. Here's hoping that's not the case...

Welcome to the largest group of knowledge you will find. At least you have the winter to tear it apart & get her running. Good luck!

I'd get the vin checked BEFORE you put too much work into getting her running.
Even if you never get it running, though, $150 is nothing. You could part it for a good bit more.

Welcome to the site, man!
