Default Greetings all, newbie here to bikes & forum.

Hi guys and girls.

As the title suggests I'm new to the forum, and the reason I have registered with the CBR forum is because after some friendly advice from fellow bike friends I believe the CBR600F pre (just) 2001 and after are very good bikes.

I'm open to opinions on the best first bike please, I'm late getting into biking, but that's because I've been a car nut for 15 years+.

I would like the Pillion seated bike, as at some point I would like the mrs to come with me ( she's up for it) once I've got experience under my belt, so the F is better? As said it would be my first bike, so should I start with something smaller? I've got my mod 2 (again) mid Nov, and again I'm confident I will pass so then I will be looking for a bike afterwards. I've slowly bought all the gear I need, agv stealth helmet, stars boot and gloves and a very nice pre used textile 2piece suit, but I feel buying the bike now will jinks it ;(

Folk have also said I should get a fazer 1000, or a R6?

Rob, from up north

Welcome.
Good luck getting all licensed up. The later f bikes are great bikes. Stick with at least the 600s if you're going to be riding a passenger.

Take your time before riding 2 up. Get good at riding in the real world before putting someone else in danger.

Default Hi all, newb here to both forum and bikes eek

So I've registered on here as I'm led to believe that a CBR600 would be a good first bike?

I'm almost told that a "F" seres bike would be more suited to my requirements..

What should I be looking for when looking at bikes, and am I right in assuming the F3's MY00, and F4's MY01> are the best 600's?

Anyway h all, I'm a mature 34 year old from north England

You wont be disappointed with an F. If I were you, I'd stick to a fuel injected model. Not that there is anything wrong with having carbs....

I'm not sure what happened above with double post, but hey ho.

Butchers pencil: I'm sure others will tell you, the mod 1 is easy. If your anything like me then you'll breeze through it.

I've started off with no/limited bike knowledge, straight onto the 600cc and it feels natural to me. A little shaky to start with, but after that its all a case of making sure I shoulder check often, but not too much and life saver (once per), the rest becomes habit..

So when did the 600 move from carb to fi?

Good to have you w/ us Rob. Welcome aboard.

Yep, 2001 went to fuel injected. The 2001-2003 in the F-series also had the split-seat. In '04, Honda went back to the banana seat til the F's conclusion in '06. However, the banana seat can easily be converted to split-seat.

I believe most here would recommend you getting a Honda! ;-)

Thanks for comments guys.

Well I passed the Mod2 yesterday, so I'm now officially on the hunt for a bike

Thanks for clearing up the fuel injection MY induction, I'll look for a MY01+ bike (twin headlights). Any other bike that I should maybe consider?

TIA
Rob

Congrats on passing!

I wouldn't recommend anything over 600cc til you gain more experience. That being said, you could also look at the '03+ RR series as well.
