Great site! Thanks....
Hello everyone. My name is Pete and I just wanted to say thanks to both the adminstrators/moderators of this site as well as the members who make this site what it is. I just purchased an 2001 Erion 929 the other day which is the first Honda I have owned since my 1989 CBR (Hurricane) back in 1993. In the interim between 93-present I have owned two ZX-7s (91 & 94), of which I logged a combined 80,000 miles on them. I also purchased a 2002 MV Agusta F4 back in February of 2002. This is what leads to why I wanted another Honda, specifically the 929.
I was on a trip up to Deal's Gap in July of 2004 in which by the end of the third day of riding, I needed a new rear tire for the MV. Well, the rear axle nut is 55mm (2 3/4 in) socket that no one in the area had. My friend who was also up there with me had a 2000 929 and said that he was going to take the day off and relax and that I was welcome to use his motorcycle. What amazed me was that as great as the MV handled, within 1 pass through the Gap, I felt like I was going as fast on his 929 than I was on my MV. I fell in love with the linear power of the 929 and the way it effortlessly flowed through the corners.
The pic is that of my MV and my friend's 929 in a trip that would shift my views and attention back to Honda.
So, this all being said and while my experiences with my Kawi's were good, it is nice to come back to the camp where my love of riding sportbikes began.

hey ive been thinking of getting a mv myself, but cant really afford the new 1k version. i think the main reason for the diff you felt between the two bikes is the cc difference. the f4 has only 750 right? let me know if you want to part with it! oh, and welcome to the boards!
Welcome to the board! The Italian bikes seem to be great for racing but the feeling I get (from their owners) is that they're tempermental and uncomfortable over the long haul. A buddy at work has a Falco (1 liter) which should wax my 1000RR on take off due to torque but it doesn't. Doesn't seem to handle as well either. You've chosen well young skywalker
Thanks for all of the welcomes.
L8X, as far as the MV goes. I still love it and I too would love to have the 1000 but can't also can't afford it. A decent used F4 750 can now be had for $12000 which isn't too bad considereing that they were about $21000 out the door.
The MV has had little maintenance issues but I like the fact that I have several friends with Hondas with over 50,000 miles on them. I figure with the 929, it will allow me to use it as a daily driver while keeping the miles off of the MV. What is kinda funny though is that the MV has just over 14,000 miles on it now and approximately 7,000 of those miles have come from the Deal's Gap/Smokey Mountain area.
Gonna be a tough choice in which motorcycle to bring next year to the Gap as I loved the way the 929 performs up there.
