Default Fresh meat

Hi all,
Fresh meat here. Just picked up a 1988 CBR600F and have been looking for a community for one. Looks like I found it. Bought it the day after I sold my 1985 Ninja Gpz600 project (the 'p' word and motorcycles I will never utter again... ) Oh well. Got this one for a reasonable price, and I have been raised in a "Honda or die" family, so telling my dad I bought a kawi made his blood boil.

Any tips or things I should look out for would be greatly appreciated!

Finally got to work at it tonight. The rear brake didn't work. Simple - had to bleed it and it was fixed. A bigger job was the headlight didn't work. After closer examination, the headlight plug was all burned out. I had another H4 plug sitting around so I figured no problem. After cutting off the old plug, I tested the wires and found ground was good but Hi and Lo beams weren't working. After about 4 hours of testing and tracing, it turns out the starter switch has a headlight cutoff that was gummed up. Some contact cleaner and scotchbrite cleaned it up.
Here is what it looks like so far...

Next is to drop the header and clean it up, and the pipe. The muffler is stock I believe. It needs some TLC.

Does anyone know - do the headers have gaskets that need replaced each time they are removed?

There are exhaust gasket sets. I would recommend replacement.

Nice lookin' bike. I'm interested in what's under that car cover as well. Hint hint. ;-)

Well that's a really tough pic...

And I'm not that good at this anyway...

So....

The boat looks like and old MasterCraft

The Bike looks like a Honda GL something or other before the faired Gold/silver wings. Maybe a GL1000.

And the car looks like an E type Jag , early 60's.

Pretty close... Yes a MasterCraft. '78 Starts and Stripes

Bike is a 2000 Honda Valkyrie

And a 1968.5 Jag E-type 4.2.

Boys and their toys
