Default First ride =-)

FINALLY found my first bike - EBay - 02 F4i - Yellow/Black - $3800 - 15,xxx miles in great shape.

I don't have to tell the rest of the group, but it's a BLAST to drive. - Took MSF at the end of August, and have been looking ever since for the deal. - It's a shame to be at the end of the North Dakota riding season, though I picked up a nice heavy leather jacket to keep the cold out and it hasn't been a problem so far.

Here's a quick photo

I just used my ftp site to put the file out, then clicked the little yellow mountainphoto above the post on the right to insert the path to the pic. - I'll have to play more - there's gotta be other ways of doing it.

Jardine is a very pleasant sound - I was worried it would be too loud (I'm not one of those loud pipes save lives, I'd rather have happy neighbors). - Nice rumble - not bad until you get it up in the 7-13K range, which being my first bike, I'm keeping them down in the 2-5K range.

It is a different ride than I expected - I was worried it would be hard to handle, turn, take off, etc. - Not sure if MSF was the big helper, or what, but hopped on and it was almost like second nature. - I'm hoping I'm being cautious enough, but only 2 days and60 miles into it and I'm ready to go anywhere...

The most fresh problem is every one of my co-workers seems to know someone who was killed/decapitated/etc. and the stories are worriesome - I have 3 kids, 1 wife, etc. - I NEED to be home each night. - Went with good gear, and a comfortable helmet (how people ride them without a helmet I don't know), tried to reduce the risk as much as possible, but at 31, I am in a midlife (yeah, this early) crisis and want to do the things I didn't do when I was 21. - Wife is somewhat supportive, but she would have prefered if I wereon a cruiser - I told her cruisers are for people in their 50's (no offense to those in that category)...

lol yea i'm only 24 yrs old and my old lady has been giving me crap about the bike since day one..Having only ridden the 250cc's at the MSF i was soo worried about testing out the 600rr from a private seller but after the initial jitters of taking off it felt soo smooth and right to be on the bike. Once I got the bike I mainly practiced in an empty parking lot from stop to go and switching gears to get comfortable. Haven't rode on the freeways, but hopefully I'll build up enough courage to get out there lol

Ahh you guys will be pullin wheelies out of corners you just dragged your knee through in no time! =P

In all honestly, just have fun and don't push your limits. I'm two years and 10k into my F4i and still learning. I remember being in the same position the day I picked up the F4i (although I was a little more rambunctious and took to the streets and freeway that night, even though I had no street biking experience). The main thing is to not go out there and hot shot like you're a pro. Take it at your own pace, learn how to do things right, and you'll get confident and have more fun faster than you know.

Dont ride outside your limits, belive me the bike can keep up with anything you've got at this point. Or you can end up like me and bust your ***, which is always fun.

Nice lookin' bike! Welcome to the site, we're all glad to have you! There's tons of good information on here, and don't be afraid to take full advantage of the "search" function if you've got something on your mind!
