Finally! Been waiting my whole life for this!
Hey y'all. I've been lurking around here for a bit, but now that I'm finally "in the club", it was time to register.
I've always loved anything with two wheels throughout my whole life, and wanted a bike more than anything. I tried to get one when I was a teenager, but my mother wasn't having it. As I continued to get older, it was just never in the cards for me, for one reason or another. But the time is finally here. It took me till 33 years old, but I finally have my first bike.
When I was in highschool ('99), I can remember the first time I saw a CBR F4 - cruising the boardwalk at the beach. I instantly fell in love with it. I thought it looked amazing with the big Honda wing across the side of the bike. That day, it basically became my dream bike. At times, I thought it would never happen, but I still always hoped for it. But now it's finally mine. And I still can't even believe it.
I brought her home last night. 2000 CBR 600 F4. I had been keeping a close eye on craigslist for the last few weeks, and even went to look at a few bikes, but they didn't quite seem to be "the one". I was working with a budget, so I had to hold out and hope the right deal came along. Then I came across this one. Before I even went to see it, I had a feeling in my gut that this was the one. And an odd side note: it had a vintage Dale Jr. decal on it, and I'm a huge Dale Jr. fan, so it almost felt like fate.
Needless to say, it came home with me. I got a very good deal on it. It's in great shape and has only 12k miles on it (compared to the other bikes I looked at with 30-40k). It's mostly stock, except for a fender eliminator and a Vance & Hines pipe (which sounds really nice, although I heard a Micron on an F4i that sounded amazing, so I'm hoping to find one of those at some point). I plan to do some work/modding/customizing, but not exactly sure what at the moment. It sort of still hasn't even sunk in yet. I'm on cloud nine, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. Everyone's been joking with me saying "well at least you got it just in time for winter!" While it does kind of suck that summer is basically over, I've been waiting my whole life for this. It won't bother me, knowing what I've got sitting in the garage now.
So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Hope to catch y'all around, and ride safe everyone.
