Default Coming to you from Montreal

Hi everyone. I figured I would finally put something up to introduce myself. As the title states, I am from Montreal. Picked up a 98 CBR 900RR last summer and loving it! I consider myself quite fortunate to find one in great condition. Sure there is 60,000 km on the odometer, but the guy I bought it from was first owner and he seemed to have babied it. It's in Showroom condition other than an undertail, new indicates on the front end and a D&D pipe, it's stock.

Went for my first ride of the season yesterday. But here in Quebec we have a law about winter tires... All vehicles must have them from December 15th till March 15th, no exceptions for motorcycles. So if you're out driving during that time they can slam you with a $300 ticket

To get around this you can apply online @ the SAAQ for a 7 day exemption, but only for certain reasons. i.e. you are leaving the province and going to the US or another place outside Quebec... So I got one and did a run from Montreal to Ottawa and back. Was a bit chilly (40F) but well worth going the distance!!

Well that's a rundown on what you can expect by living here... oh and the yearly registration for an RR is $1200. You honestly gotta love to ride to do it around here!!!

Hope all of you are enjoying your rides (if it's your season to do so. Spring is almost upon us!)

Well it's aboot time!!

Welcome to the CBR Forum, glad you found us, and thanks for giving the insight on riding in Canada. I thought it was expensive down here, but apparently not.

Cheers, SB
