Default Chain slack

Can anyone help please.
my head is fried.

I can't tell how much to tighten my chain.

It says 20mm slack on side of bike but everyone keeps telling me it's too tight.

I need some of you knowledgeable guys to give me the proper info

Thanks in advance.

I'd say that is a bit snug and would go with 25-30mm. It's always better to have it a little too loose rather than too tight... 👍

I'd follow what ever the manufacturer says it should be for your bike. It all depends on the length of the chain. How far is the rear axle from the drive sprocket, swingarm length. A number of variables to consider.

General rule for street bikes is: sit on the bike, and should be about an inch of slack. Too tight, and you break sprocket teeth. Too loose, and your chain jumps.. you decide if it's worth the 10 minutes to adjust the tension.

Also: 'Lube it hot, adjust it cold.'

Word! Also a too loose or too tight chain spills the lube all over. Bye bye underseat cleanliness
