Hi all,

a couple of questions. 1. sometimes the coolant just runs out of overflow, not always but often enough for me to ask, no oil traces in radiator, and engine oil is clean to. 2. can you fit any different forks to a fj without doing major engineering. many thanks in advance, as I have already had so much good advice from you guys.

Kind regards

Peter

Hey Peter! To your first question, I can only assume that you have the coolant completely topped off in the radiator, correct?

If your coolant is full, and the system is good and clean, I would investigate to be certain that your thermostat is functioning properly, i.e., opening at the correct temperature - this can be done by removing it, putting it in a pan of water, and watching to see if it actuates at the appropriate temperature, if at all.

On your second question, since this is the New Member area - though you might get some feedback, you'd be better served posing the question in the Hurricane area: CBR 1000F "Hurricane" - CBR Forum - Enthusiast forums for Honda CBR Owners

Good luck with it!

You're welcome!

Post up a picture of your bike, if you haven't already got one somewhere on cbrforum.com.

How full do you fill the reservoir? If it is above the max fill line when cold a little might run out the tube when it gets hot. My CBR does this but I make sure that the coolant never gets below the low limit line.

I think the last time I topped it off I added a bit above the max fill line. For the next few days I noticed some fluid coming out of the overflow tube when I first turned it off.

hi and welcome aboard, glad to see another mk1 owner, with regards to your question of coolant, check the pipe that goes through the cap for the overflow, mine went right down to the bottom of the tank, with the bike warm and the pipe in the coolant it dripped out the overflow,i cut mine down a couple of inches and it hasn't leaked since.
