Hi all, been a long-time lurker of CBRF for about 6 months, and finally joined. Ridden Honda sportbikes since my 87 Hurricane. Had a 93 900RR for nearly 20 years, but sold it back in 2012 for a sports car purchase. Recently picked up a very neglected 91 CBR1000F and spent the better part of last year replacing rusted or corroded fuel system and brake parts to get her running and riding again.

Will post pics of her currently when I get upgraded from moderated status

Thanks Conrice. This site has been UBER helpful with the How-To section and great threads in the 1000F section to getting the Flying Tomato (my wife's idea) up and running. I've ventured into other areas like General Tech lately too. Great site!

Here's her on her "rescue day". 15 years of neglect in the corner of a garage. Rust-filled tank, carbs, dry rotted fuel lines and hydraulics. All calipers seized. It was an uphill battle. The good news is only 5K original miles, and body was is really good shape. Had the original tires from 1991 on it which were rock hard and flat spotted, and a plate last registered in 1998.



At home getting some TLC and many parts from Ebay.

 

Many new parts including, 5 gallons of EvapoRust & 1lb drywall screws for "derusting tank", new tires, new carbs & rebuild kit, intake boots, calipers, master cylinders, petcock and lots of sweat, she's a runner! Took some time to repaint muffler shields and mufflers too. My 9yo daughter's first ride on the new bike with her new jacket, lol.

I take my daughter on the back as well, she's a bit bigger than your daughter now, but when we first started, she was so light she didn't affect the handling at all and totally fearless

We also have identical bikes, everyone knows the red ones go the fastest

Here's my baby, the wife named her 'The Scarlet Harlot'

 

That's a beaut Hawkwind! Yea, I really like the red/black 1000F over the Red/White/Blue color scheme. Would love to find some slip-on mufflers that still work with the OEM heat shields, but most models I've seen from the past are 4-1 or aren't meant to work as a matched-size set like the OEM mufflers. Those Nexxus look (and I'm sure sound) great.

The OEM mufflers on your bike look to be in great condition, is there a problem with them, or do you just not like the look?
