Another NEWBIE
Earlier this year I sold my 2004 Gixxer 600 thinking I was going to quit riding. Nope, I couldn't stand not riding after seven months!! I had my eye on the new 2005 CBR600rr with its improvements over the first generation RR since it was introduced earlier this year. Before I knew it I took ownership of a brand spankin' new red one with less than two miles on the clock last Thursday, 7/21. I took it out for its first break-in miles on Saturday. So nice to put on the KBC and Alpinestars to do some throttle twisting after a few months break. It's especially nicer with MY new CBRrr!!!!!!! I'm 46 and a motocrosser at heart. But I retired from the sport for good after landing a double that lead to dislocating my left knee two years ago. I used to race with Jeff Ward back in the early 70s with our minis on Southern California motocross tracks. He successfully continues his racing career today (current supermoto national champ and Indy Racing League race car driver among others) and I chose to go to college. Sometimes I'd wonder if I had taken a similar path as he. Most likely I wouldn't have been as successful. . .who knows. ---Because of my knee injury, I decided to ride a sport bike and got into watching MotoGP and AMA Road Racing. So far it's been a absolutely fun ride even at mid-life!!! Hey those trick motocross "pit bikes" are so cool. . .may be my motocrossing days aren't over just yet. . .
Hey and welcome to the boards. It sounds like you have quite a bit of riding experience. Glad to hear you couldn't get out of bikes alltogether. Post up some pics of your new baby when you get a chance.
