Default Another new guy from MD

Hey guys, I'm from College Park and just recently bought a 01 CBR 929rr. Unfortunatley I haven't been able to ride it much because it needs some work to pass inspection and I'm waiting on parts . but anyway really looking forward to when I can ride it. I have been riding for a little over a year. I started out on a buell blast and gained valuable riding and wrench expirience! I decided to go with a CBR because I hear hondas last forever and this bike had an excellent review when it came out. I was actually looking for a 600 but the 929 was a pretty good deal that I couldn't refuse. Real quick question about replacing a chain and sprocket, is a 520 chain kit gonna snap on my bike?

Sorry you're having the inspection issues. Hope you get it all sorted asap, so you can enjoy it.

Great that you went to Honda...GO HONDA! :-)

Go w/ the stock/oem chain size & steel sprockets. You don't need a 520 or alum sprockets.

Welcome to CBRF!

Welcome to the forum.

Great to add another happy 929rr owner to the family. We love our 929s! Hit me up if you have any questions.

Get a 530 chain, 108 links (or cut a 120) with steel sprockets, assuming you have the stock set up.

Is there any specific reason I should be go with an OEM chain an sprockets? The only reason I ask is because I'm having a hard time finding an OEM kit thats cheaper than a conversion kit and I'm slightly pressed for $

Get a good x ring 530 chain. Find sprockets individually. You can get them from an OE supplier or the dealer. If yours are not all chewed up, you may be able to use them over. I find that my front takes more beating than the rear. I've done chains and front sprockets mostly.
