Hello all. Great site! Been reading up on past threads, good information and quite a few laughs! I've got a 99 F4. It is still pretty much bone stock aside from a SportVue HUD.

LMAO. The thing on the helmet is a Head Up Display. It shows speed, gear, and RPM graph. I put it on a couple of weeks ago and it works like a champ. Looks a little "different", but it's nice not to have to look down at the guages when riding.

welcome! i have never seen one of those before. it won't fly off your helmet if you're doing 100+ will it? just out of curiosity, where did you get it?

also, post some pics of your ride when you get a chance...

The HUD is from a company called SportVue. The website is http://www.sportvue.com. I have the basic version, it is $249.00 from the website. The uprated version can plug into a Radar Detector and flashes "RADAR" when you are being targeted, it is $349.00. I don't run a detector, so it wasn't worth the extra cash. As for it coming off, the manufacturer has tested it to 165MPH, and I have done 100+ without any problems. The receiver/display actually mounts to the helmet visor with a bracket, so the display can be removed to clean the visor etc... It doesn't create enough drag to notice or make the helmet feel weird or anything at speed either.
Having it attached to the visor is a little "Power Rangerish" for my tastes, but it works so I'll put up with the odd looks, LOL. I have some pics of my ride, but need to reduce the file size to post.
Thanks again to all for the warm reception to the site!
