Default 3 months,1,500 dollars and 1 gf lighter-BATCYCLE returns

So about 3 months ago I signed up to CBR forums as the new owner of a 1987 cbr600f Honda Hurricane. I was super stocked since the bike had some history. It was used as part of the Batman stunt show in six flags Chicago back in the late 80s early 90s.
So my super excitement and motorcycle inexperience made me blind to the fact that I had been had and the motorcycle needed alot more work than I was led to believe.
So after the initial estimate of 2,500 dollars i found a friend of my dads who has his own bike repair business and he quoted me 1,300.
The next few months was followed by several conversations of "when is your bike going to be done?", and "Your paying how much?""You might as well get a new bike."
Then came the girlfriend who hated the fact i bought a motorcycle instead of a ring (she denies this claim) and some other personal issues so that was done.
Well here comes the motorcycle training class and a a new (used) gas tank and a few months later and BAM!!!!!
Check her out!
Rode her home with the headlight strapped on with tie wraps but she runs great on all 4 cylinders.
So all thats left is some body work. Going to fix up and paint the fairings.

What does the forum think?
Tips on painting and fixing up the fairings?

An original Hurricane. Sweet! Welcome back. Nice choice on the bike versus the ring, btw!

The bike came with the fairings, they are pretty beat up so I am working on them right now. I just bought some epoxy and paint today. I didn't want to use bondo because of the flex factor I have to deal with while driving.
I have to do some fiberglass patching as well because of its stunt bike past it has some cracks here and there. Luckily I've been working with fiberglass since i was 10 so I know what I'm doing there.
My goal is to paint it all black with the batman logo on the tank.
Anybody have any advice on a good headset camera to record my first official ride?

Nice bike man! That looks pretty close to what my first CBR looked like. I know you will enjoy it. If I were you I would keep the tank colour OEM and the rest of the fairings as well. Good Luck!!

At the risk of sounding stupid, what does OEM stand for?
I mean i am keeping the plastics all black.
Why would you keep it original?

OEM = original equipment manufacturer

Typically, oem parts provide assurance of proper fitment, matching paint, and quality in general (as opposed to knockoff parts manufactured by independent/uncontracted companies). In this case, he's just talking about the factory color.

I do remember when you posted the first set of pics and told the Batman story the first time around ;-) The bike looks good. Did you need the new tank due to corrosion? I am in agreement that it is nice to keep with the OEM colors, but in your case with the Batman history, all black makes sense, and is easier to pull off. I patched together some fairings on an F1 bike many years ago, and it came out pretty well - I had to make up some new tabs and mounting points to keep all the pieces together, but it worked. It sounds like you know what you are doing with the bodywork. So tell us - what were the mechanical repairs that had to be done? Welcome back.
