180 on a cbr600f3
Can a 180 tire be run on a f3 ? I don't do track days ,just touring.Like the looks of the wider tirer, what will it do to the handling? what will need to be done to make it fit. it looks like thy should.
I strongly advise you stick to the recommended tyre sizes with any bike ... especially a "road bike" ... putting a wider tyre on a rim designed for something less wide often deforms the natural profile of the tyre and can therefore cause adverse handling problems.
Did you also know that a larger tyre on the rear of a bike can slow the steering down ... the standard tyres are more than enough for general road riding so to change it to something wider just for looks is really not advisable.
CBR600F3 - tyre sizes.
Front – 120/60 X 17
Rear – 160/60 X 17

Welcome to the Forum, I believe the F3 has a 5" rim and while you can squeeze a
180 on there but most likely will not like the way it handles or the way it wears either.
Some people I believe put F4i (5.5") rims on as it is a better fit (profile) for the 180 but
that requires different spacers etc..... again not that much benefit with handling that is,
but looks
Also if there's a hugger on it .........you may have to discard it.
A 170 is what a lot of F3's run on the stock rim.... with least amount of hassle

Welcome to the forum, man!
I wouldn't go any bigger than a 170 that is meant for the 5" rim.
A 180 just isn't worth it. Usually costs a bit more, it will make the handling a little more sluggish, and it won't improve the contact patch.
I wouldn't worry with trying to fit the 5.5" rim, either. Just a pita without any gain, imo.
