OK, after extensive research I have have discovered that NZ didn't even have a top ten before 1967.

Apparently in those days it relied on some crusty old bugger writing down what 78's he'd sold that week and then posting the info away to someone in Auckland who may or may not chose to include the info depending on how much backhander he'd been slipped by the record company.

I'd love to play, but the charts only go back to 1955. I turned 12 that year. Could have been something by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, the Andrews Sisters, etc.
