When is it too hot?
TK just sent me a message reminding me that it's going to be 46 Degrees Celcius (114.8 F) in Adelaide tomorrow.
Thursday 16 January
Summary
Min 29
Max 46 Very hot and sunny.
Chance of any rain: 5%
Rainfall amount: 0 mm
Adelaide area
Very hot and sunny. Winds east to northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h tending northwest to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then tending east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the late evening.
Fire Danger
Mount Lofty Ranges: Extreme
Adelaide Metropolitan: Severe
UV Alert from 9:10 am to 5:40 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 13 [Extreme]
For me - and having worked in central NSW where we had 10 to 14 day runs well above 40 - it's no big deal.
We don't have air-conditioning or a pool nearby so when Mrs SB got home from work at about 7 pm, we packed the car with a picnic dinner, some ciders and drove the 32km to the Murray river and had a few swims between the food and ciders. A refreshing finish to the day.
I pity the emergency services.
Keep cool guys.
Cheers, SB

"When is it too hot?"
When we took our ride out to mid-Ohio a few years ago and we were ridding all day in those temps. While fueling up some lady came over to me and said, "It must be nice to be out in the fresh air with the wind in your face in these temps."
My reply. "Hey lady, do you know what its like to be sitting in a convection oven all day?"

However, this is a good reminder that while many of us here in the US are currently dealing with frigid cold weather, not everyone else in the world is experiencing the same thing.

Maybe it will depopulate it a little??
Don't get into the City too much these days and it suits me just fine. Where we are in the Hills will be about 3 to 4 Degrees cooler, so I too will be looking for that jumper!

Just been outside weeding and by golly by gum is it hot.......... 37.4 Celcius at 9 AM. Melted my bald pate to my brain.
This lady lives on the same road as a mate - they nearly got burned out in 2013.
Cheers, SB

I don't know about that. For those of us who are more used to F instead of C, 46C is 114.8*F. The record high for Phoenix, Arizona was 122°F (50C), set on June 26, 1990. I don't know if that's the hottest big city in the US, I just know it gets hot there in the summer because I've be through there during that time.
