FINNISH METAL!!!
If you`re into nordic-type metal, I would strongly recommend to take some time to get to know to some of these bands (finnish bands marked with F)
-Sonata Arctica (F)
-Norther (F)
-Thunderstone (F)
-Tarot (F)
-Nightwish (F)
-Apocalyptica (F) This band is special for the fact that they don`t play guitars, They play Cellos! If you don`t know this, you wont notice anything else, but a more... Well, we say here, a sound with more *****... They don`t have a vocalist, but have had many international stars to sing for them such as Dave Lombardo, Corey taylor, Joe Duplantier, Cristina Scabbia and Gavin Rossdale. Also have recorded an album called "Plays Metallica with four cellos"
These guys have all been graduated from the Sibelius-Academy, Which is the highest available school for music in Finland. (For a note, The Finlandia-hymn has been composed by Jean Sibelius)
-Amorphis (F) One of my personal favourites.
-Before the Dawn (F)
Etc...
I`ve left out from this list the most known bands such as HIM (F), Dimmu Borgir (Nor), Children of Bodom (F) and such, as well as the bands that sing in finnish, such as Mokoma, Stam1na, Viikate etc. If you want to take a Quick glimpse of the Finnish metal scene, Which is really vast, listen to this
AND CRANK THE VOLUME JUST BELOW DISTORTION!!!!!
