A tribute to my best mate - now dead
I was going to post this on the main boards , but it a bit private and I did not want too much fuss ...
The guys in here are like family and in here this post stays ....
Well guys, this morning (sunday), early , I finally said my final good buys to my long time best mate and a really great dog , Max ..
He died quietly on his bed while we were away getting firewood ...
He was such a friend to me for so long ,that I can barely type this without loosing it ...
It was with this dogs help, that I was able to stay half sane when my family went to chit years ago ....
He was such a great friend and companion to me and my boys and I particularly owe him so very much for his time with me ...
He was 16 , so we know he had a long and a very happy life with us , but his loss will take some getting over for me especially ...
We buried him on the side of one of his favorite tracks between our 2 dams where I travel most days .... I will never forget him and I am sure for many years to come , I will talk to him most days as I go by on the track to the pump house at our big dam ..
I just wanted to post this up as a bit of a tribute to him and to all the faithful pets that I know we all loose through life ...
He is so sadly missed by us already ....

Rottie Cross - 16 years old and loved by everyone that he came in contact with ...
May he now finally rest in peace ..
His favorite past time for many many years was going down to the beach he loved the water and going in the boat with us ...
He was so friendly for a very large dog..
He loved our Barbies
For years , he even had his own couch to sleep on that we had to replace many times .. lol

Some great pics Steve, they show he had a great life.
At least he passed away peacefully, wouldn't mind going that way myself.

Damn Steve, so sorry to hear my friend.
Words are tough to find with a situation like this so I'll just say that me and Kane will be thinking about you guys, and i'm really really sorry to hear about it.
At least he had 16 awesome years with you, and thats so much more than a lot of poor dogs can say.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Steve. This is always a hard thing to go through, but Max would want you to be happy & protected as he always made you feel. He will always be in your heart moving forward so have beer & a cheer for him. Hang in there buddy.

and he done well for a big dog to get that amount of years in. Must have been very
well taken care off imo..... sorry for your loss.

Things are still a but weird here and om not my usual self quite yet ...
I do not and never have taken loss real well personally ..
but all your kind words do help allot ...
We are now looking for an impounded ( death row ) new pup to save and give our love too for the next 16 years hopefully ...and yer we will be spoiling the new one heaps I am sure ...!!
I know everyone has these sort of losses , but Max was way!! more than just a pet to me and Kerri for so dam long, that it is going to be tough ...
I had to go to work as usual today and the gutted feeling of loss was still real tough to deal with ...
I truly thank you all ......
Please , stop and give your dogs (your mates) a huge big hug for me ..... they deserve it and I know they will return it too you 10 fold unconditionally ...
catch yu's again soon when things chill here ....
