I have a black Mamba about 3 metres long that lives in my shed - scared the jocks off the garden help one day..........if he's there, he sticks his head up, and I wait 5 minutes, and he scoots. Good arrangement, nobody goes in my shed but me, and no rats or other snakes to worry about.(Jeez I hope it is a male, I don't need a bunch of little fellers too, then it'll have to go, or I will)
Love the slops with toecaps Dave - just right for construction here !
I sent a copy of the pic to a mate who's Safety Manager on a site in Qatar - let's see what he says - look good with Arab kit huh ?

The dreadful one eyed trouserius expectorus maximus.
Slayer of demons and weak-willed wenches- the evil spitting panty python
If you plan on being naughty..........
Put a raincoat on your *****

Oh and Troutlet........the only part of a Black Mamba that's black is the inside of his mouth........he'll open it to show you if he's concerned. The rest of him is a sort of nondescript grey/brown. Really quick though, can move at a quick jog if they want to...............20KPH !!!

One look in his eyes and you know he's trouble - they strike repeatedly too.

I'm pretty sure that's faster than I could EVER run.

Wait 'till one chases you Joe - believe me you can run a LOT faster than that
I was in the army when we had one come up behind us, in the cane fields (sugar cane)-
we must've got between it and the nest or something but we MOVED..............
You would too, Joe................

I know what you mean Pete. The Browns have a real mean look too and will also chase you. I've seen Taipans in captivity and they're the same. The Red Bellied Black Snakes we get here, even though they're still in the top 10 most venemous in the world (I think we've got them all here..it really is the lucky country ) just don't give off the same nasty vibe. They'll try not to be noticed first, then try to get away and if pushed they flatten out and try to look real mean. They will, apparently, strike without biting as a warning and sometimes bite without injecting any venom.

I told my young bloke about your Black Mamba and he said "cool!" and started rattling off statistics regarding speed, size etc. Try to get a photo..with a real big lense from far away

You South Africans and Aussies have a tough life. It makes you real men. The worst thing we have to deal with in the states is Paris Hilton.

Funny Joe...I'd rather look at a Brown Snake ..It might only be me, but I rekon she's a bit of a minger. The media describe her as "heiress, Paris Hilton"...wtf is that anyway..some kind of job description??
