Sh!tty Times
I been havin some real sh!tty times lately!
Yesterday , rigged up a mount for a camera on the front of my bike , gave it a little test run around the block and it went great! So that evening I thought 'I'll go out and film a section of my local run . Waited untill traffic would be light and headed out for a ride , took some good footage and then got to my favourite section so I re-started the camera and went to check out the condition of the road . The weather here has been bad and the roads are pretty much covered with gravel in some places , also you never can tell what 'Old Farmer Giles' has left in the road for you .
So did the first run , everything was OK , but I'd left it too late and I was losing the light so I headed for home when the bl00dy camera pops off the mount , I managed to trap it on the tank , but before I could stop it fell and hit the road
. Great place for it to happen , narrow road , up-hill left-hand blind bend with no footpath , just a tiny grass verge . Stopped , ran back and got the camera but the battery had flown out and was well and truly gone . Light was fading fast so after ten minutes gave up and rode home wondering if the camera would work at all , even with a battery .
Luckily the camera will also take 'AAA' batteries so loaded 'em in and fired it up and after a bit of fiddling got it going . Only half a screen now , but I managed to download the footage that was on there , which included my sons school play recorded earlier that day . Not to mention , I would also need it for my daughters school play the following day , oh dear !
I don't know if I over-tightened the screw that went into the bottom of the camera or if it was the vibration or both , but that's where it came loose .
Anyway , I've now wasted all last night and tonight trying to figure out the software the camera came with , finished that and now the files are way too big to upload to youtube , and on some of them after adding music the video is in slow-motion . Just finished downloading some compression software that was on youtube , so maybe that will do the job . The video up-loads fine without music , so I dont know what I'm doing wrong , I'm such a computer dummy!

Gawd ...what a bastard !! sorry about yu cam Hawk ... that sucks !! allot !!
I too made a mount weeks ago , but I was not game to road test it for that very reason... fear of it getting away and self destructing its self after beating my tank up on its way to hell...
I made the mount pretty darn strong , but my Cannon is pretty darn heavy!! ...
I wish I could just whack it in my jacket like Jules seems to do ...
After you get over your current suicidal tenancies , are you going to try again mate ??

Dam, that does suck, hawkman.
Then the insult to injury is that goshdam software. I know how you feel on that. Such a PITA sometimes.
Hey, at least the camera falling didn't cause anything worse to happen!

Yeah , at least it's still usable Sawnee , but I think it's definitely second best now , lol.
Yeah Steve , it wasn't my home made bracket that gave up , that's still as solid as a rock , it was the tripod mounting screw under the camera , damn thing is made of plastic and sheered off , should never have trusted it . Ah well , we live and learn
.
The amazing thing is it was mounted to the front of my old busted screen , so it came off , bounced over the screen where I managed to catch it between the tank and my arms! Then it went down nice and hard ! A perverse side of me wishes I was filming at the time , would probably give everyone a bit of a laugh

That would have been a funny movie for sure...
I can picture it in my head, though... lol..
You would have thought the mount screw on the camera woulda been tougher than that....but not sure how, really. Not a whole lotta metal in a camera..

Be warned guys, in the MCN this week a guy was T boned by an off duty copper in a car. He suffered a broken leg and collar bone, had to have a pin in his leg, the copper suffered slight cuts and bruises.
The biker was within the speed limits, clean licence, legal bike and ended up with 15 days inside and a 15 month ban!!
He had a camera on his bike that got smashed in the crash but when the police emptied the memory card it was enough evidence to put him away.

earlier in the day.
