Scammers
Howdy folks.
I'm selling my Toyota Pickup ('95 4x4), and since listing it like 2days ago, I got my first scam attempt!
I knew it would happen, and figured I would share.
The first email I got was about 2hrs after listing it. It was simply a "Hello, Do you still have this available for sale" email...
I knew from the ****ed up name and the response asking if it was still for sale 2hrs after it was listed that this was the beginnings of a scam attempt.
I simply responded with "Yes, it is still for sale" instead of "**** off, you POS" because truthfully, I wanted to hear where they would go with it...
Then the next day I got the beginnings of the scam. Here's the email reply from them:
HAHA!!! So where do you think I should go from here?
I mean, I could just cut all communication with him, but that's no fun.
Any ideas?
It's obviously a bogus cashier's check scam. There is probably gonna be more to the scam like "I'm gonna send more money than the price... wire me the difference" or some such chit.
I hate these a-holes.....
Anyway, I have a guy coming to look at the truck tonight, and another tomorrow.... hope it sells soon.
I'm thinking of getting another bike. Maybe a 929rr? (Don't tell the wife!!)

I got a similar email...ironically enough selling my 00 tacoma 4x4. I found out the local police cheifs name adn address and gave that to them. I acted all excited and asked to quickly send me the information as well as the check so we could get it processed as quickly as possible.
god knows what happened.

Money talks, bull**** walks is the only rule when selling stuff. Crispy folding cash (preferably dry ) or a bank transfer are the only ways I'm ever happy selling. There's just so many robbing ****** out there! Also I'm a fan of meeting a person face to face and shaking hands on a deal..just old fashioned I guess. Let us know if you come up with any good games to play with them. Probably wiser to just let it go though..you never quite know who you're f**king with.

I wouldn't send those a-holes any personal info , not even the address
Certainly don't send him any info at all...
Although I could have it sent to my work. They don't want to play with my company.

If you do sell and buy a 929rr can I come round to your house to play:icon_bike : , I'll let you tell the wife it's mine
Dave, I couldn't agree more with everything you said. That's how I do deals, too. (although I don't mind wet cash too much...lol)
As far as not knowing who I'm dealing with... well... they don't know who the **** they're dealing with, either...

Half their gag has to be making you think you've sold the truck so you tell everyone else to go away, thus making you desperate to sell when the time comes for him to change up the terms.
Tell him you will take it off the market for one week for a nonrefundable option price of $500. If his check hasn't been received and cleared in that time, then option expires automatically by the deadline without further action by you and without further notice to him, and then money is yours and you relist the truck.
That will flush the chump.
