Really ??
This all just sounds like a bit of media beat up to me.
In my experience unless you have an actual claim for damages, the court filing fee will be more than what you are seeking.
PS : note the sad faces on both dad and son. Is that because they are so unhappy about the quite small charge? or because they have now become an international media fiasco?
Need to pick your fights people; this is not one to get your name splashed across the internet.

Yeah! I read that 'story' and it's NOT the venue that has sent the invoice but the mother of Birthday Boy with the 'borrowed' header from the venue.
Sour grapes because the child didn't show and Mommy had to pay.
A good kick in the bottom is needed here.
Slow news day methinks?
Much better news is Aussie Toby Price getting 3rd in the Dakar! And a Dakar rookie to boot.

What a load of cr-p.
So a child doesn't attend a party due to a prior engagement.
Sounds like most of the kids didn't attend and the "Mum" involved is annoyed that her pampered darling's party wasn't a success.
I say again, what a load of cr-p.
Fine the "Mum" for wasting the Court's time, and possibly charge her for fraud for the use of the third party's business address to obtain funds unlawfully.

Hey Shadow; it was my good ladies wife birthday today.
I bought her a book titled "The Dwarf Who Moved"
I thought she might enjoy it (I know I will) and then I thought my youngest daughter will as well. When I eventually get it back, I will send it to you.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. TK!
I had a friend once who would call up out of the blue always promoting some activity (river rafting or a salmon charter, etc) knowing that if he could get enough people to pre-pay, his trip would be free.
Only fell for that one once.
In my day, this issue would've been dealt with in the schoolyard. Not the courts

Happy B Day Mrs Teeks, (better late than never)
I see she is a lady of refinement and good jusgement !
And yes, Woof, I met a tour "operator" like that - invited me to join his tour party as a guest and I ended up working like a dog for the whole week.
Sometimes freebies just aren't
As for the mother with the "invoice"
It's a clear case of attempted fraud.
I'd make the fine big enough that she'd NEVER try that trick again.
I'll bet the little boys will never be allowed to talk to each other again either. SAD
And thanks Teeks, I'd love to read the ramblings of another "Bench warmer"

TK, there's only one word for the parents that sent that invoice. Sadly it's not printable on these forum pages. It doesnmake you laugh though to think that there are actually such idiots at large, and they live near me!!! I so hope they've been enlightened as to the error of their ways by now. That would have made a better story.
