Ok, so I'm a lttle biased
Yep Woof you're right, Barry Sheene was one of the best. We kinda adopted him down under. That or the fact that he refused to leave...........
I've been on a couple of the barry Sheene memorial runs to Phillip Island before the Moto GPs.
Cheers, SB
No denying Sheene's greatness.
If you want some history on one of our local heroes. Wiki, Steve Baker. Great road racer
I used to race MX at a track he owned up in Bellingham, WA

OK, couple of hours later now and I've had some time to think about this and I guess I'm coming down on WooferDogs side of the fence.
Firstly, all of us need to acknowledge that the guys that get to operate at this sort of level, either on two or four wheels are super humans. (Go and search Richard Hammond's attempt at driving an F1 car).
I look back on the early/mid 70's, when these guys were at it. What was the major source of bike news back then?
Because of where I live in the world it was "Cycle World" (does anyone remember Dan Hertfelder and "The Duct Tapes"?) So of course it was all about "King Kenny".
But also check out what it took to become an AMA champ back in those days, Flat track, bit of moto-x and road racing.
Kenny's TZ750 miler still has to be one of the most outrageous race bikes ever built.
So; there you go, 1 vote for King Kenny. I look forward to the Trans-Atlantic debate.
Cheers guys

PS: Kenny was definitely cool but in a more calculating way. Sheene was FUN!
Personally, I think Roberts possessed all of the talent to be great. Though I also believe he never would achieved the legend status he has without the guiding hand of Kel Carruthers
